William felt Harry was moving "too fast" together with his new love and tried to prevent his younger brother from rushing into marrying the previous Suits actress and divorcee, the royal biographer Robert Lacey claimed in his book Battle of the Brothers.

According to the book, William is claimed to possess told Harry: "This all seems to be moving rather quickly. Are you sure?"

The book alleged Harry was offended and wondered whether second-in-line William was actually concerned about his happiness or worried more about the impact the connection would wear The Firm.

Mr Lacey wrote: "The fraternal fissure became established. There would be patch-ups and reconciliations, especially when a public show of unity was required.

"But that anger and mistrust - that distance - has lasted to this day."

Harry is currently within the UK after arriving on Friday to unveil a statue of his late mother alongside William.

The 36-year-old is believed to be self-isolating at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor for five days before he and William, 39, will reunite at Kensington Palace on Dominion Day on what would are Princess Diana's 60th birthday.
